Berikut adalah rancangan jadwal mata kuliah semester 2 tahun 2013/2014 Rancangan jadwal dalam bentuk file pdf dapat diunduh di sini.  

Sehubungan dengan kadaan yang kurang kondusif terkait hujan abu gunung Kelud yang melanda Yogyakarta dan sekitarnya, maka dengan ini diumumkan bahwa Fakultas Teknologi Industri UII diliburkan pada hari Jumat, 14 Februari 2014. (Informasi dari Wakil Dekan FTI-UII) Ujian remediasi Kimia Dasar, Pendidikan Pancasila, dan Desain Sistem Kendali yang sedianya akan dilaksanakan pada tanggal tersebut akan dijadwal ulang, silakan menunggu informasi berikutnya. Mohon informasi ini untuk disebarkan kepada rekan-rekan lainnya. Tidak perlu panik, kita sama-sama berdoa semoga keadaan segaera membaik dan kembali normal. Jangan lupa gunakan pelindung mata dan hidung pada saat beraktivitas di luar ruangan. Semoga Allah selalu memberikan perlindungan pada kita semua.

Forum Komunikasi Teknik Mesin Yogyakarta adalah merupakan sebuah wadah komunikasi Prodi Teknik Mesin dari berbagai Universitas di Yogyakarta. Forum yang sudah terbentuk beberapa tahun yang lalu ini akan segera di aktifkan kembali kegiatannya, Prodi Teknik Mesin FTI UII pada tahun 2014 ini berinisiatif untuk kembali membangkitkan kembali forum ini yang diharapkan akan sangat bermanfaat bagi peningkatan kualitas Program Studi Teknik Mesin di Yogyakarta ini. Acara yang berlangsung di Ruang Training Laboratorium Teknik Mesin FTI UII, pada 7 Februari 2014 ini berhasil menghadirkan perwakilan dari berbagai Universitas di Yogyakarta yang memiliki Prodi Teknik Mesin tentunya. Dalam pertemuan ini membahas tentang proses regenerasi dan refreshing pengurus serta rencana program-program yang bisa dilakukan kedepannya. Sungguh luar biasa semangat dari para perwakilan Prodi Teknik Mesin ini untuk segera membentuk kepengurusan baru, untuk itu Kaprodi Teknik Mesin FTI UII Agung Nugroho Adi ST., MT. menyampaikan akan segera mengirimkan undangan ke Prodi Teknik Mesin di Yogyakarta untuk pertemuan selanjutnya di Ist. Akprind Yogyakarta pada 7 Maret 2014 Pada pertemuan selanjutnya akan dibahas mengenai struktur organisasi dan divisi, rencana program kerja, pemetaan tim-tim kecil untuk masing-masing divisi kerja. Tujuan pendirian Forum Komunikasi Teknik Mesin Yogyakarta ini adalah sebagai (1) menciptakan kondisi yang kondusif untuk meningkatkan kerja sama antar perguruan tinggi Teknik Mesin di Yogyakarta dalam melaksanakan Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, (2) meningkatkan interaksi antar perguruan tinggi anggota dan (3) meningkatkan sumber daya anggota dalam menghadapi tantangan dan persaingan global.

Kembali Prodi Teknik Mesin FTI UII bekerjasama dengan Prodi Teknik STTA, dengan adanya program penambahan peralatan praktikum di Teknik Mesin STTA yaitu modul Elektropneumatik yang juga dilengkapi dengan PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), Teknik Mesin FTI UII mendapat kehormatan untuk membantu mengadakan sebuah panel Elektropneumatik serta memberikan pelatihan langsung kepada para dosen di Prodi Teknik Mesin STTA.   Diawali dengan pembuatan board panel selama empat minggu, dilanjutkan dengan pelatihan penggunaan kepada dosen di Teknik Mesin STTA. Pelatihan ini dipimpin langsung oleh Agung Nugroho Adi, ST., MT.dan dibantu oleh Mohammad Faizun, ST. M.Eng, Fariz Alfian serta Adi. Dilaksanakan selama 3 hari yaitu pada Kamis 16 Januari 2014 pengenalan dengan platform simulasi elektropneumatik, Jum’at 17 Januari 2014 dan 24 Januari 2014  pelatihan langsung dengan komponen elektropneumatik. Di akhir cerita Kaprodi Teknik Mesin  Agung Nugroho Adi ST., MT. mengutarakan semoga dengan kerjasama ini mampu meningkatkan pemahaman tentang sistem otomasi dan dapat berguna untuk pembelajaran selanjutnya dalam dunia penerbangan.

Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi Prasetiya Mulya adalah institusi pendidikan yang menawarkan program pendidikan gelar dan pelatihan di bidang bisnis dan manajemen sebagai bagian dari upaya untuk meningkatkan komunitas bisnis dan kompetensi pelaku bisnis di Indonesia. Prasetiya Mulya Business School menjadi brand STIE Prasetiya Mulya. Seringkali dikenal publik dengan nama Prasmul maupun PMBS. Mahasiswa dari Prasmul ini tengah melakukan penelitian dengan prospek bisnis yang belum terjamah, dan akhirnya memutuskan untuk meneliti produk yang bisa dibuat dengan bulu ayam. Dengan mendapati blog dari salah seorang dosen Teknik Mesin FTI UII, Muhammad Ridwan ST. MT, yang membahas tentang komposit bulu ayam, mereka pun beranjak terbang menuju kota yogyakarta untuk melajar langsung dengan beliau. Tak kurang empat hari praktek di Laboratorium Proses Produksi mulai dari 16 hingga 19 Desember 2013, mereka mendapatkan pemahaman mengenai langkah awal persiapan pencetakan mulai dari persiapan alat cetakl, pemilihan bulu dan pemilihan bulu yang digunakan dengan atau tanpa rasis bulu, bahan pengikat yang kali ini kita gunakan resin serta katalis untuk pengaktifnya tak lupa alat pres hidrolik untuk proses pengepresan cetakan.   Adalah Billy Jonathan, Erwin Sidarta, Maria Nike, Vania Tjahja dan Suhendi yang begitu semangatnya melakukan praktek ini.

Alumni Teknik Mesin kembali menorehkan prestasinya, kali ini dalam bidang industri plastik cetak. Adalah Hasan dan Arif berhasil membuat pesanan alat injeksi plastik dari pengusaha di Kalimantan.   Salah satu keuntungan dari alat injeksi plastik adalah dapat digunakan untuk membuat produk plastik dalam jumlah sedikit, menyesuaikan jumlah sampah plastik rumah tangga yang jumlahnya juga tidak begitu banyak. Untuk itu perlu cetakan yang harganya terjangkau modal industri rumah tangga. Cetakan untuk proses injeksi plastik berkapasitas besar biasanya dibuat menggunakan material baja yang dibentuk menggunakan mesin CNC milling, sehingga harganya menjadi relatif mahal.   Cetakan untuk alat injeksi plastik skala rumah tangga ini dibuat menggunakan bahan akrilik yang dibentuk atau dipotong menggunakan mesin laser cutting sehingga biayanya relatif murah dan terjangkau oleh industri rumahan. Sebagai gambaran, biaya pembuatan satu buah cetakan plastik berukuran 10 cm x 10 cm  adalah Rp. 30.000,-. On their arrival, overseas students will be picked-up by university staffs and/or buddies who will take care of them during orientation period. University dormitory will be prepared based on request and its availability. Overseas Students having UII student card will be able to access all facilities that are accessible by local students, including laboratories, libraries,  sport center, consultancies, free-in campus bicycles, dormitories, etc. The rules and regulations for accessing those facilities are applied. Currently, Mechanical Engineering Department FIT UII offers only a four-year Bachelor Degree Program. As Bahasa Indonesia is used as medium of instruction, overseas students taking the complete four-year study have to learn Bahasa prior to joining the program. However, in order to answer the need of internationalization, MED also offers several program conducted in English, including: Joint Degree Program (only for universities under MoU) Credit Transfer Short Course Training and Laboratory Session Joint Research Community Service Students from Rajamangala University of Technology Tanyaburi, Thailand, taking short courses at Mechanical Engineering Department FIT-UII during semester break  

LABORATORIES Laboratories at MED FIT provide facilities for lab-works and researches. For a lab-work, students are assisted by lab assistant who will help acquiring course materials through experiments. One lab assistant will help 4 to 6 students at each lab sessions. Lab assistants mostly are senior students who already pass the course with excellent grade. Every student is welcome to apply as a lab assistant. However, selection process has to be conducted. For research activities, laboratories provide sophisticated equipments. Manufacturing workshop (includes cnc machines, laser cutting, welding equipments), materials testing and analysis, metrology equipments, rapid prototyping machine and automation and control equipments can be used to support researches. In certain circumstances, 24 hours access can be granted exclusively for students of Department of Mechanical Engineering in conducting research. CAD/CAM/CAE Lab In this laboratory there are a number of computers that have been equipped with a variety of up to date software such as Solidworks.  Engineering and mechanical drawing course assignments conducted in this lab. Energy Conversion Lab This lab provides facilities to build knowledge and understanding of basic engineering phenomenon through experiments. Vibration, deflection, friction, viscosity and fluid mechanic are some of engineering phenomenon to be studied. Industrial Metrology Lab This lab is intended to support the course Industrial Metrology, Measurement Techniques and other subjects related to the techniques and methods of measurement geometry. Laboratory equipment supplied is sufficient measuring equipment including digital and manual are mainly used in Industrial Metrology Lab. Production Process Lab This lab has lab equipments in the form of welding machines, lathes, milling and several other supporting equipments. The laboratory supports activities such as lectures and lab work of production process, as well as a profit center. Mechatronics Lab This laboratory accommodates activities related to automation, pneumatic, PLC and Robotics. In addition to the lab work and research which are regularly been held, the Mechatronics Lab is also used as a place where students preparing their participation in various competitions in the field of mechatronics and robotics. Manufacturing System Lab The laboratory covers precision machining activities utilizing CNC technology. CNC machine typically used in the manufacture of jewelry such as Roland EGX-36, MDX-20 and EGX 600 are available. For dies and mould, large capacity CNC machines Hurco VMX-24 is used.   TRAINING CENTERS In addition to develope laboratory as a means of education, MED FIT also developed two training centers, the Manufacturing and Mechatronics Training Center. Manufacturing Training Center Manufacturing Training Center is a place to apply CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design / Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology and CNC (Computer Numerical Control) for the design and manufacturing process. Those are particularly to support the development of excellence of the Department of Mechanical Engineering in jewelry products, crafts, and art. The training materials include product designing jewelry, crafts, and art utilizing CAD / CAM technology and CNC machine. Mechatronics Training Center This center provides mechatronics equipments to support research and training in mechatronics and automation. Various automation and mechatronics trainings are available in conjuction with the industry. Training materials include pneumatic (air power control system), electropneumatik, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), microcontrollers, and robotics.   DEPARTMENT LIBRARY In addition to the library at faculty and university level, MED has also assortment of library collections in the form of reference book, accredited Journal, magazine, dissertation, thesis, report, reports, proceedings as well as faculty research reports. To borrow department library’s collection, students must meet the rules set by the Department.
