Sejak tahun 2016, Prodi Teknik Mesin UII telah memperoleh status akreditasi A dari Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi. Capaian tersebut merupakan bukti komitmen Prodi Teknik Mesin UII pada perbaikan mutu berkelanjutan. Dengan berfokus pada bidang manufaktur, terutama pada kompetensi desain produk dan automasi industri, Prodi Teknik Mesin UII melakukan pengembangan secara terstruktur dalam penyusunan kurikulum yang menitikberatkan pada kemampuan analisis yang didukung oleh keterampilan aplikatif sesuai kebutuhan industri.

Lulusan Prodi Teknik Mesin UII dapat berprofesi sebagai Product Design Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Project Engineer, Research Engineer dan Technopreneur pada bidang kerja Industri Manufaktur, Otomotif, Proses, Pengolahan Pangan, Bangunan dan Konstruksi, Pertambangan, Jasa, Pembangkitan Tenaga, Institusi Pendidikan dan Penelitian serta instansi Pemerintah. Sebagian alumni Prodi Teknik Mesin UII telah mampu berkarier di mancanegara dan tak sedikit pula lulusan yang melanjutkan studi ke jenjang pascasarjana di beberapa perguruan tinggi terkemuka, baik di dalam dan luar negeri.
